Line operator open positions are available on first and second shift in Palestine with shift start times varying based on the area of the facility in which employees work. On first shift, employees working in first processing begin work at 4:45 a.m., employees working in second processing begin work at 7:15 a.m. and employees working on third processing will work varied hours. On second shift, employees working in first processing begin work at 1:30 p.m., employees working in second processing begin work at 4:15 p.m. and employees working on third processing will work varied hours. Shifts are approximately eight hours in length with employees working Monday through Friday with occasional work on Saturdays.

As a leader within the poultry industry with respect to employee compensation, Sanderson Farms’ team members are offered competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package. Entry-level employees begin earning $14.45 per hour with pay varying by shift and tenure. After the first 90 days of employment, hourly employees earn $15.90 per hour with pay varying by shift and tenure.

Sanderson Farms’ health care benefits include medical coverage for individuals and families, free preventative care screenings, low deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums, as well as $15 or less copays for generic prescriptions. Sanderson Farms pays 75 percent of the cost of employee health premiums and the employee pays the remaining 25 percent as their premium.

Sanderson Farms’ benefits package also includes 401(k) and 401(k) ROTH plans, as well as an employee stock ownership plan. Employees are eligible to participate in the 401(k) plans after 90 days of employment. After the first year of employment, contributions are matched dollar-for-dollar by the company on the first three percent of pay, and 50 cents on the dollar for the next two percent of pay.

In addition to eight paid holidays, employees are eligible to earn up to 20 days of paid vacation time based on employee tenure. Sanderson Farms employees are also eligible for continuing education programs such as tuition reimbursement, including high school equivalency exams, after only one year of employment with the company.
